Paint With Me: Toys

I don't know where I come up with these themes.
I didn't particularly like this one:
toys.

But, I suppose I didn't like it because it was a challenge for me.  One I might have copped out on.
You can be the judge of that.
No, really.  Go ahead and judge.  I can handle it.

I traced a few of Callahan's toys.  Traced them.
Then I colored them in exactly like they are in reality.
Challenging, huh?

I still found the process relaxing, and that's really the point.  And I did have to fill in the details myself...
does that count?
What I had fun with the most was documenting a favorite group of toys artistically.  I had fun writing Callahan's own pronunciations of each animal.  I now have this fun artistic record of this brief moment in time.

But, because I felt like a big, fat cheater-cheater-pumpkin-eater...

I tried to capture a beautiful branch of blooms using watercolors.
This was a challenge.
I didn't think I could do it, and I was pleasantly surprised by the result.
Quite pleased with myself, actually.

It's your turn to share!

For next week, think of a word that you live by and represent it artistically.

The toys turned out really cute. And the watercolor is truly beautiful. The color and capture is so delicate, sweet, and true. I would frame it if I were you.

Heather! That branch of flowers is so BEAUTIFUL!!! Wow.

I had to laugh about your toy drawing commentary (not your cute drawing)because I was feeling the same way about mine. You'll see.

LOVE your watercolor of the blossom! It is really GOOD!! And the toys turned out cute too - I love your hand writing :D I cheated again - I submited some new scrapbooking layouts. Those seem to be my only creative outlet lately. I can't help it - I LOVE to scrapbook! Hope that is okay ;D

I think fear caused you to cheat on the toy theme, and conquering your fear caused you to create that beautiful watercolor!! It's fantastic.

I love that you "drew" the animals & added your daughters sayings to the side. Priceless! It is about relaxing and enjoying the process. If it's not fun what's the point? Your blossoms are amazing! What is next weeks theme?

Wow--that's a beautiful watercolor!
I haven't tried watercolors for so long...but lately I've been working with acrylics and that's pretty snazzy.

Heather--you are amazing. I am so motivated when I read your blog. But when it says click to follow I want it to send me a little email every time you post--or else I forget to look it up. There are always so many things to do on the computer--yes even now that I am "retired." I even started my own blog. It is a simple one focusing on the book of Psalms. http://ellenlandreth.wordpress.com/
I wanted to send you a sample of a new project of mine I call "Life's Memories" posters but don't have your email address. I was hoping I could attach it here but there isn't that option. You asked for creative things we are doing so I wanted to share. My email is elandreth@cableone.net.
You are a fabulous woman. I admire you so much. And I love the way you do your blog. So inspiring.
